Yvonne P. Garcia, LPC
Yvonne is a 24 year veteran of the San Antonio Fire Department, serving most of that time in EMS. Yvonne recognized her calling to serve even before the fire dept., having taught middle school for 5 years before the career change. Ever evolving, Yvonne recognized her feelings of burnout and need to make changes in her life. She became more active in helping her fellow firefighters through Peer Support, Critical Incident Stress Management and following her own Spiritual journey. She went back to school and got her Master’s Degree in Community Counseling from UTSA in 2013, and completed her Intern hours counseling firefighters and helping build up her dept.’s resiliency programs. She also volunteered at a local church and still does educational training on Resiliency, Self-Care and Spiritual matters.
